  1. JOURNAL

13/05/2020

Alright! First journal cool. Pretty good day, It's my 10th day at Amazon as a virtual SDE Intern today. Obviously can't tell what's the project about. Actually even I am not sure what it is about. Mocks and Details are yet to be shared by my manager. Ahh! Extra details! I dont want to write much mostly other than what I did today. Okay let's start this journal thing again. I woke up at about 9:30 AM. I was high asleep, Mom woke me up, saying what time would you like to wake up. I said 8. She shouted its 9:30 already. Classic Indian Mother.

I was awake last night, it was Anamika's birthday. I hope she liked my gift. It was a really expensive lipstick, but she always wanted it. It felt good to buy it for her from my own money. Ahh! I went off track again. Yeah! So I woke up, my table and chair are right beside my bed, I jumped on to check my mails, nothing new, just commit messages/code reviews from the team. I saw a webinar got shifted an hour, I usually drop my mom at the office at the same time. Okay I decided to watch it on my phone. I have been ramping up on React Native, but yesterday I got some details about my project from my mentor, and he gave me some backend tasks. I had initialized a repo last night and today I had though to integrate DynamoDB to the same. Well before dropping off mum, I got some yum brunch on the table, Roti Paneer Raita Pyaz Nimbu Kala Namak. Bro, thats some yum stuff, IDK about you. Had a heavy brunch and then I dropped off mum. Finished the webinar. Called Anamika, it's good to talk to her before I start work.

And then the coding phase starts, I look up some baeldung blogs for the integration, it seemed deprecated. Checked out some youtube videos. I wanted some CrudRepository like feels with DynamoDB as well. Voila! Found spring-data-dynamodb .. not many stars on github at this point of time. But I think this will do. I started looking at the docs, set up a POC and it worked. Due to this COVID thing I havent received my Amazon Laptop or Complete access to their network, so had to use my personal account. But this was fun, I was done with the integration by 4 I believe. Everything worked fine, I pushed the code asked for my mentor to review it.

When I work hard I look for validations from people around me. I really hoped he'd give me some review on it. Lets see what happens tomorrow. :) Ah I'm writing too much, but this day doesn't seem to end. I realised I havent showered today. Well couldnt shower till 7, since I did not want to miss a call/text from my manager or mentor. I'd probably wake up early tomorrow. (lol) Mum was home, gave food to dogs around my house. There's two especially, mum calls them my brothers. She makes two extra rotis for them everyday. I had a chat with my sister about her company starting up (Maruti) and what did she cook today. Then got on a call with Anamika, well it's her birthday, n I'm really bad with birthdays. Hopefully this one was good enough for her. Then had dinner with mum (khichdi). I think I have started liking khichdi, weird. I also thought about writing the blog I have thought to publish on the coming Sunday. But will have to do that later, I'm way too tired. Asked Anamika to recommend a movie. She came up with "Rumour has it", I think I have a soft spot for romantic comedies. Although I'm watching it and writing this down right now. I guess thats it for the day. A lot more though came into my mind. But if I wrote all that shit down, it'd be another 100 lines. Well Good Night Papa.
